Smart thermostats are handy pieces of hardware that allow you to control your heating or cooling via your smart phone.

Through integration with your smart hub or smart phone, you can take control of the heating and cooling in your home. Most smart thermostats come with a manual or digital display, and many can also integrate with a centralised smart hub or a home assistant like Google Home or Amazon Alexa allowing control of your home heating or cooling simply by voice command (if you have a home assistant) or a couple of taps on your smartphone.

Some smart thermostats allow you to setup a geo-fence – a virtual barrier that can sense when you leave or arrive home by using your smart phone’s location. You can also configure pre-set times for your thermostat to switch your air conditioner on or off, so you shouldn’t have to worry about leaving the heating on again. This easier scheduling could help you reduce your power usage.
